Vespa scooters were made at the Piaggio works at Pontedera from 1945 onwards, the name 'Vespa' being Italian for 'wasp'. They were also made in England by the Douglas motorcycle company in Bristol, from 1951 to 1963, to the tune of more than 125,000. As well as the standard 125 and 150cc models, there were sporting versions called the Gran Sport and the Super Sport offering more speed and power. Illustrated here are some of the company's best-loved models from the 50s, 60s and early 70s. Print size approx 330 x 315mm (13 x 12.4 inches), and is printed on 170gsm matt art paper.
